CLIENT BRIEF

The scope of the project

The client. Regent & Thread's is a distinguished bespoke tailor in London, renowned for its heritage and craftsmanship. Established during the Regency Era in the early 1800s, the brand originally served the British monarchy, embodying elegance and tradition. Today, it remains synonymous with classic, custom menswear that reflects the timeless essence of British tailoring.
The brief. Design a contemporary visual identity that bridges the brand's storied past with a refined, modern aesthetic. The new identity must honor Regent & Thread's legacy while appealing to today’s discerning clientele. It should feel sophisticated, unmistakably British, and strike a balance between tradition and understated modernity.

THE PROCESS

From drafting to refining

With clear objectives and all the necessary insights in hand, I dive into the sketching phase, exploring ideas to see what resonates. Early on, a logomark inspired by tailoring tools—like scissors—emerges as a strong contender. Then comes the eureka moment: why not draw from Imperial British symbols and reinterpret them through a modern, minimalist lens? From there, I iterate relentlessly, refining the concept until it strikes the perfect balance of tradition and contemporary design.

THE PROCESS

Final result

A custom logomark combining scissors, a needle, and a thread—echoing Imperial Britain yet reimagined with sleek minimalism. Paired with an elegant logotype, the design captures the brand's refined, modern, and quintessentially British essence.

VISUAL LANGUAGE

Typography & Colour Palette

Space Cadet, a deep navy blue, takes center stage, evoking trust, loyalty, and timeless sophistication—perfect for a brand with two centuries of heritage in menswear. The supporting colors, both primary and accent, are understated yet elegant, adding depth and refinement. For typography, Frutiger replaces the predictable Gill Sans, offering a modern British feel with a fresh perspective. Proxima Nova and Open Sans round out the system, delivering a clean and polished look for headings and body text.
